Ingredients

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cheese Sticks

  • Unwrap the mozzarella cheese sticks and cut them in half to make 24 pieces.
  • Place the cheese sticks on a tray lined with parchment paper and freeze for at least 1 hour. Freezing prevents the cheese from oozing out during cooking.

Step 2: Set Up the Breading Station

  • In one shallow bowl, place the flour.
  • In a second shallow bowl, beat the eggs until smooth.
  • In a third bowl, combine Italian breadcrumbs, panko breadcrumbs, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix well.

Step 3: Bread the Mozzarella Sticks

  • Take the frozen mozzarella sticks and dredge each stick in flour, shaking off any excess.
  • Dip the floured stick into the beaten egg, ensuring it’s fully coated.
  • Roll the stick in the breadcrumb mixture, pressing gently to adhere.
  • For an extra-crispy coating, repeat the egg and breadcrumb steps.
  • Return breaded sticks to the freezer for 20 minutes to set the coating.

Step 4: Air Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  • Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil spray.
  • Place the mozzarella sticks in a single layer, leaving space between them for even cooking.
  • Air fry for 6 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden and crisp.
